Co-founder of Chaincode Labs & Hudson River Trading
Pioneering automated trading, Bitcoin Core contributor, and advocate for decentralized digital currencies
Alex Morcos is one of the early pioneers of automated trading and a prominent figure in the Bitcoin development community. He graduated from MIT in 1997 with degrees in mathematics and computer science.
In 2002, Alex co-founded Hudson River Trading (HRT), where he spent over a decade working to make markets more efficient and helping shape the complex policy debates surrounding technology in financial markets. HRT grew into one of the world's leading quantitative trading firms.
After discovering his passion for Bitcoin in 2012, Alex became a dedicated contributor to Bitcoin Core, the reference implementation of the Bitcoin protocol. His contributions include the fee estimation algorithm and block pruning features that help make Bitcoin more accessible and efficient.
In 2014, Alex co-founded Chaincode Labs with his long-time partner Suhas Daftuar, creating a place for engineers and scientists to support the development of decentralized digital currencies and further our collective understanding of how such technologies can work.
